District Sales Manager

Job Description

Role Purpose

Translates the department objectives and strategies into an actionable sales, coverage, distribution and visibility plan in assigned district to ensure the achievement and maximization of the company’s brand growth as well as profitability objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Develops the sales forecasts by product, month, area, and channel for the assigned district.

• Set and plan sales budgets in line with company overall profitability targets as assigned by National Sales Manager.

• Meet weekly, monthly and annual sales targets for each brand and product in the assigned district.

• Build and maintain healthy relationships with key clients.

• Responsible to operate within the limits of approved expense budget.

• Provide timely update for the National Sales Manager on the developments of all sides of the business

within the district.

• Maximize distribution activities for own assigned areas and optimize distribution and visibility as well as monthly and quarterly distribution initiatives.

• Supervise sales activities within assigned areas and units to ensure sales targets are met.

• Assist in the development and improvement of sales staff capability and skills.

• Follow-up on collection of outstanding payments from customers and retailers to ensure all outstanding amounts are collected in a timely manner.

• Report on competitions’ activities and performance and other relevant information to Sales Manager and/or concerned employees in other departments in the company (e.g. marketing department).

• Reviews and analyzes monthly, weekly and daily sales analysis reports to take appropriate corrective action.

• Allocate individual sales targets to the sales team based on the approved monthly and weekly targets and monitor results on a daily basis to resolve issues as soon as they occur.

• Conducts frequent field visits with the team to ensure that the sales fundamentals are properly executed and that relations with the trade are well maintained.

• Issues a monthly report to update on the performance and developments within the assigned district.

• Ensures the effective execution of promotional and special marketing events.

• Manage, coach and support the sales team to ensure their targets and objectives are met.

• Maintain a clear succession plan for his team.

• Maintains close coordination with the category management team to ensure two way information stream is maintained and support is available on time.

1-6years’ experience in sales in a similar context (retail and/or FMCG) of which the last 3 at a supervisory level
